Answer: We have heard that eyes speak and they speak the truth…It is visible in this poem also. The tiger in the zoo conveyed both his anger and helplessness through his eyes. He shows his anger hatred and even defiance by walking about in rage in his cage. The tiger in the cage ignores all those who come to the zoo to see him as entertainment. At night, he showed his helplessness by staring at the stars in the sky.

7. How does a tiger create terror for the villagers?

Answer: The tiger terrorizes the villagers by barring his big white fangs and revealing his sharp claws. He makes terrifying low snarls moving around the houses of the villagers that are situated at the edge of the forest. His mighty presence and roars scare the villagers.

Answer: The poet exhibits the miserable life led by the animals in the zoo. He shows the two different – lifes i.e., in the zoo and the life at a natural habitat. According to the paet animals should not be caged. They should be let free in the wild.

Answer: I think the tiger was feeling restless and uneasy in that small cage. He seems to be frustrated and helpless as he could not come out of the cage in the open and enjoy his freedom. He did not want to be a mere showpiece and a source of entertainment for human beings.

Answer: In the cage, the tiger walks stately and furiously.

Answer: Some of the activities of the tiger as stated by the poet are – walking along the cage, hearing the patrolling of cars, ignoring visitors and staring at the brilliant stars of the sky.

12. Tigers are becoming extinct due to deforestation and poaching. How can people be sensitized about the need of tiger. 

Answer: Tigers are considered as an endangered species. People are killing tigers for their skins, bones, claws and teeth. Due to this, the population of tigers has declined. We should not encroach on their habitat. As we all need sheltered home, tigers also need natural surroundings. Forests should not be cut down. They (Tigers) must be given more space to move freely around.  

13. Why are the eyes brilliant? What is common between the eyes and the stars?

Answer: The tiger’s eyes shine brightly in the darkness of night. The stars are  also shining in the sky. The common things between the tiger’s eyes and the stars is that both are brilliant.
