Witness STEM taking Root @ Deeksha STEM

What was the ideation behind Deeksha STEM ?

It’s high time that we acknowledge the rapidity of changes in the global industrial scenario and its implications. The influx of technological changes demands professionals in almost all sectors to learn, unlearn and relearn, and to support these professional attributes, an equally dynamic educational system is the need of the hour. Deeksha STEM Schools are in response to this clarion call. Deeksha strives to build a generation of capable and conscientious individuals and to give additional impetus to this objective, Deeksha has ventured into the K-12 education segment with Deeksha STEM.

How is Deeksha STEM positioning itself?

The ambition that Deeksha STEM embodies is no less than shifting the paradigm of education in India with the cutting-edge STEM educational methodology. Deeksha STEM schools are a far cry from conventional education, encouraging self-learning and innovation and cultivating an aptitude for pure and applied sciences from an early age.

Deeksha STEM has been envisaged to bring a paradigm shift in the educational culture and the pedagogical approach is progressive and inter-disciplinary and in sync with the objectives of the National Education Policy 2020.

What is different about the STEM educational philosophy and methodology?

The foundational premise of STEM education is that the lessons are internalised best when they are driven by spirited enquiry and combined with the opportunity of application. This is where hands-on learning comes into play and at STEM schools the children are incentivised to self-research, critically analyse, and apply what they learn. Tinkering Labs, STEM corners, and maker spaces provide the infrastructural framework to this progressive thought.

The academic ecosystem is built on pedagogical approaches like Enquiry-Based learning (EBL) Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Learning By Design (LBD) and the curriculum is delivered through these progressive approaches. The focus of the pedagogy and the curriculum is to develop 4 Cs in children namely creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

Why is STEM methodology being called the most contemporary and progressive educational models?

The STEM methodology is not just contemporary but futuristic as well. The ed-tech implementation aims to personalise learning and assessments and enable blended learning besides equipping children with technological acumen from an early age. Children are exposed to coding skills, robotics, besides media and technology literacy. Moreover, value-based education is imparted by integration of elements of value system into the syllabi of different subjects.

STEM educational methodology drives academic excellence by creating a genuine love for science and technology. Going beyond the confines of the classroom and books and the ability to learn from every possible context is one of the major achievements of STEM methodology. The result of such an evolved approach will be a generation of scholars with salient skills of research, exploration, and innovation.
