There is a myriad of opportunities for students to showcase their talents today. The International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) is one such chance for students who are interested in Earth Science and have an exceptional knowledge about the subject. IESO, one of the thirteen International Science Olympiads, is an annual competition for secondary school students that tests their abilities in different disciplines such as geology, geophysics, meteorology, oceanography, astronomy, and environmental science.

We are really happy to share that Guhan Narayanan a student of  Deeksha Academy has qualified to be a part of the team of 4 students who will be representing India at the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) 2016. IESO will take place in Japan this year. The results were announced by the National Coordinator Prof. Hema Achyuthan of Anna University, Chennai. These four students will be awarded Certificates of Merit and Cash Prizes.

The Indian team has been selected from the 20 students who qualified in the National level entrance exam conducted by the Geological Society of India which is supported by the Ministry of Earth Science (MoES), Government of India. The selected 20 attend a 20-day Training Camp at the end of which the 4 students were chosen based on their performance.

Guhan will now travel to Japan and be there from 20th to 27th August 2016 to participate in the IESO 2016. The Deeksha Family extends its hearty congratulations and wishes him all the best for the final round in Japan.
